Licensure Requirements

If you earn an associate degree in dietetics and nutrition it has to be a program that has been approved by the New York State Education Department and has accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education. The appropriate courses in human biology and social behavioral sciences have to be completed satisfactorily. You as an associate degree holder must complete 1600 hours of practical supervised work to gain a licensure. In the case you study in a baccalaureate or higher degree program you need  approval and accreditation from the agencies mentioned above, however, the number of hours of supervised practicum is reduced to only 800 hours.

All educational qualifications, be it  an associate, bachelor’s or higher degree must consist of curriculums  accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
