Registration

In the state of Idaho, one could only professionally practice as a dietician after gaining registration by the American Dietetic Association’s Commission on Dietetic Registration.

In order for a dietitian to get registered he/she must complete at least baccalaureate education and training in nutrition which should be accredited from a regional accreditation agency.

One must earn required qualification in human nutritional sciences or other such studies in human dietetics from an institute accredited from the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Applicants must also complete an internship in dietetics for at least minimum of twelve hundred hours. Students must also pass the examination for registered dietitians. In this exam, one is tested in areas such as:

Licensure for Dietitians in Idaho

The general requirements for dietitian licensure in the state of Idaho are as follows:

One has to complete a graduate program in dietetics to be eligible for licensure. One must complete a pre-professional internship that has ensured the required experience. One has to attain registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registry.

One must also pass the examination requirements for licensure. If an applicant fails the examination twice they will not be allowed to have licensure.
