Nutritionist Certification in Georgia

Registration

As it is common in majority of the states of the United States that one needs to have nutritionist certification in Georgia to be able to practice this profession. The Commission of Dietetic Registration is the certification agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. They require one to successfully complete certain requirements in order to gain registration as a dietitian. One must have a graduate level degree from an accredited institute. One must study a program that has been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics. One has to successfully pass the registration examination for dietitians. This exam tests one’s ability in:

  • Counseling Communication Abilities

Georgia Dietitian License

Under the supervision of the secretary of the state of Georgia one can gain licensure as a dietitian through the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitians. In order to gain licensure one has to be at least of 18 years of age. One must have an accredited degree in the programs such as:

  • Nutrition Education
  • Human Nutrition
  • Food and Nutrition
  • Dietetics
  • Food Systems Management

One must at least complete 900 hours of practical supervised experience in a training program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetic Education. One has to pass the examination provided by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Education in Dietetics and Nutrition

Apart from online nutrition schools in Georgia, the Georgia State University offers a bachelor’s of science degree  in Dietetics. This program is accredited from the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics and is aimed to allow one to qualify for gaining registration as a dietitian. Subjects studied in this program include:
