The Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine is located in Montclair New Jersey. It is an accredited school where upon completion of the program you are able to sit for the national board exam. The program to receive a Master’s Level Diploma in Acupuncture is three years long. The first two years are spent in coursework that includes classes like Oriental Theory, Medical Terminology, Bioscience, Pathophysiology and Survey in Japanese Acupuncture. This is a very heavy load for two years and accumulates into 85 credits. The third year is spent in an internship for another 30 credits.

One convenience of going to The Eastern School is that they have their own on-site student clinic. This is open to the public. Third year students get hands-on training with a licensed acupuncturist. The clinic also provides a service to the community, as a low cost option for acupuncture. Some of the conditions that will be worked on in the clinic are stress, depression, arthritis, headaches, asthma, high blood pressure and allergies.

To get accepted into the program students need at least 60 college credits and letters of recommendation. It has very high standards for students and, as such, students will receive a high quality education. The course is not easy, but for the right person, being an acupuncturist is a rewarding career. Putting aside newer technologies and embracing traditional medicine that has been in practice for thousands of years is becoming more and more popular.
